HB 1404 (2000)

creating a study committee to address mechanisms for the preservation or disposal of state records.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 1999-2000
  • House committee: Executive Departments and Administration
  • Senate committee: Executive Departments and Administration
  • Subject: Study Committees and Commissions
  • Chapter law: 138

The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 2000 and referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 8, 2000. The committee held a work session on February 10, 2000. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 17–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 9, 2000 the House voted to pass it with changes. It crossed to the Senate on March 16, 2000 and was referred to the Senate Internal Affairs committee. On March 23, 2000 the Senate adopted “Vacate From Internal Affairs to Executive Departments & Administration” on a voice vote. The Senate withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Executive Departments and Administration committee instead. The committee held a public hearing on April 25, 2000. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 27, 2000 the Senate adopted “Committee Report Ought to Pass” on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on May 4, 2000 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 15, 2000, making it Chapter 138 of the session laws. It took effect on May 15, 2000.
