HB 1390 (2000)

establishing a commission to study the relationship between public health and the environment.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 1999-2000
  • House committee: Environment and Agriculture
  • Senate committee: Public Institutions, Health and Human Services
  • Subject: Study Committees and Commissions
  • Chapter law: 114

The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 2000 and referred to the House Environment and Agriculture committee. The committee held public hearings on January 11, 2000 and February 8, 2000. The committee held a work session on February 16, 2000. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes by a vote of 14–1. On March 9, 2000 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 16, 2000 and was referred to the Senate Environment committee. The Senate withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Public Institutions, Health and Human Services committee instead. The committee held a public hearing on April 11, 2000. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 20, 2000 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on April 27, 2000 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 8, 2000, making it Chapter 114 of the session laws. It took effect on July 7, 2000.
