The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 2000 and referred to the House Science, Technology and Energy committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 11, 2000. The committee held work sessions on January 13, 2000, January 20, 2000, February 3, 2000, February 16, 2000, March 7, 2000 and March 15, 2000. It crossed to the Senate on April 6, 2000 and was referred to the Senate Energy and Economic Development committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 25, 2000. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 4443). On May 11, 2000 the Senate adopted “Committee Report Ought to Pass with Amendment” on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 18, 2000 the House voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 18, 2000 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 1, 2000, making it Chapter 227 of the session laws. It took effect on July 31, 2000.
