HB 1216 (2000)

relative to petitions for warrant articles.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 1999-2000
  • House committee: Municipal and County Government
  • Senate committee: Public Affairs
  • Subject: Municipalities
  • Chapter law: 199

The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 2000 and referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 8, 2000. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it unanimously, 18–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 23, 2000 the House voted to pass it. It crossed to the Senate on March 23, 2000 and was referred to the Senate Public Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 10, 2000. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On May 18, 2000 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on May 18, 2000 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 30, 2000, making it Chapter 199 of the session laws. It took effect on July 29, 2000.
