  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 1999-2000
  • House committee: Commerce
  • Senate committee: Energy and Economic Development
  • Subject: Miscellaneous
  • Chapter law: 243

The Story

It was introduced on January 7, 1999 and referred to the Senate Energy and Economic Development committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 16, 1999. The committee voted unanimously, 7–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it. On March 4, 1999 the Senate voted to lay it on the table on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. F. King. On May 20, 1999 the Senate adopted “Remove From Table” on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on May 25, 1999 and was referred to the House Commerce committee. The committee held a public hearing on June 2, 1999. The committee held a work session on June 16, 1999. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes by a vote of 13–1, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The bill was taken off the consent calendar on June 22, 1999. On June 22, 1999 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On June 29, 1999 the Senate adopted “Sen. F. King Concured W/House Amendment” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on July 1, 1999 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 9, 1999, making it Chapter 243 of the session laws. It took effect on July 9, 1999.
