The Story

It was introduced on January 28, 1999 and referred to the Senate Insurance committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 16, 1999. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 8, 1999 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Commerce committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 11, 1999. The committee held a work session on June 17, 1999. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it unanimously, 15–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On June 22, 1999 the House voted to pass it.
