  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 1999-2000

The Story

It was introduced on January 28, 1999 and referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held public hearings on February 9, 1999 and April 13, 1999. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 16–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On May 13, 1999 the House voted to pass it with changes. It crossed to the Senate on May 27, 1999 and was referred to the Senate Internal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on June 17, 1999. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On June 22, 1999 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on June 29, 1999 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 6, 1999, making it Chapter 203 of the session laws. It took effect on September 4, 1999.
