The Story
It was introduced on January 7, 1998 and referred to the Senate Public Institutions, Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 13, 1998. The committee voted 5–2 to recommend that the Senate pass it. On March 12, 1998 the Senate voted to pass it, then referred it on to the Senate Finance committee. The committee voted 4–3 to recommend that the Senate pass it with changes. On April 16, 1998 the Senate voted to kill it on a roll call 14–8.
