SB 379 (1998)

establishing an immunization registry.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 1997-1998
  • House committee: Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs
  • Senate committee: Public Institutions, Health and Human Services
  • Subject: Public and Mental Health
  • Chapter law: 183

The Story

It was introduced on January 7, 1998 and referred to the Senate Public Institutions, Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 27, 1998. The majority recommended that the Senate pass it with changes, and the minority recommended that the Senate study it after the session ends, by a vote of 5–2. On April 2, 1998 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. On April 9, 1998 the House adopted “Suspend Rules change rept date to 05/14/1998”, on a motion by Rep. Wheeler & Burling. The committee held a public hearing on April 14, 1998. The committee held a work session on April 29, 1998. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it by a vote of 10–1, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On May 20, 1998 the House voted to pass it. The bill was enrolled on June 4, 1998 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 15, 1998, making it Chapter 183 of the session laws. It took effect on August 14, 1998.
