On June 4, 1998 the House adopted “Accede to Request for Committee of Conference” on a voice vote. A committee of conference met on June 9, 1998 to try to settle the differences between the two chambers' versions of the bill. On June 18, 1998 the House adopted “Conference Committee Report” on a voice vote. On June 18, 1998 the Senate adopted “Conference Committee Report” on a voice vote.
