The Story

It was introduced on January 9, 1997 and referred to the House Resources, Recreation and Development committee. The committee held public hearings on February 19, 1997 and February 26, 1997. The committee held a work session on March 6, 1997. The majority recommended that the House send it back to committee, and the minority recommended that the House kill it, by a vote of 12–5. On March 18, 1997 the House adopted “Special Order to 03/19/1997”. On March 19, 1997 the bill was referred to the Resources, Recreation and Development committee. The committee held work sessions on September 17, 1997, September 25, 1997, October 1, 1997 and October 9, 1997. The majority recommended that the House kill it, and the minority recommended that the House pass it, by a vote of 9–8. On January 7, 1998 the House voted to kill it on a voice vote.
