The Story
It was introduced on January 9, 1997 and referred to the House Local and Regulated Revenues committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 4, 1997. The majority of the committee recommended that the House send it back to committee unanimously, 17–0. On February 19, 1997 the bill was referred to the Local and Regulated Revenues committee. The committee held a work session on September 17, 1997. The committee held a public hearing on October 7, 1997. The majority recommended that the House kill it, and the minority recommended that the House pass it, by a vote of 10–8. On January 15, 1998 the House voted to kill it on a roll call 200–124.
