The Story

It was introduced on February 18, 1998 and referred to the House Finance committee. On February 18, 1998 the House adopted “Suspend Rules for deadline (on 02/12/1998)”, on a motion by Rep. Wheeler & Burling. On March 12, 1998 the House adopted “Suspend Rules change rept date to 05/13/1998”, on a motion by Rep. Wheeler & Burling. The committee held a public hearing on March 16, 1998. The committee held work sessions on March 26, 1998 and April 2, 1998. On April 9, 1998 the House adopted “Suspend Rules change rept date to 05/14/1998”, on a motion by Rep. Wheeler & Burling. The committee held a work session on April 14, 1998. The majority of the committee recommended that the House study it after the session ends by a vote of 20–2, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On May 7, 1998 the House voted to study it after the session ends. The committee held a work session on October 21, 1998. The committee met in executive session on October 21, 1998 to vote on its recommendation. The committee reported back on its interim study of the bill: “Not Recommended for Future Legislation”, by a vote of 18 to 0.
