repealing the New Hampshire civic center commission.
- Status: Signed into law
- Term: 1997-1998
- House committee: Commerce
- Senate committee: Finance
- Subject: Miscellaneous
- Chapter law: 227
The Story
It was introduced on January 9, 1997 and referred to the Senate Finance committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 13, 1997. The committee voted unanimously, 6–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it. On February 20, 1997 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Finance committee. The House withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Commerce committee instead. The committee held a public hearing on March 25, 1997. The committee held work sessions on April 9, 1997, April 16, 1997 and May 6, 1997. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes by a vote of 14–4. On May 14, 1997 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 29, 1997 the Senate voted to reject the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. On May 29, 1997 the House adopted “Accede to Request for Committee of Conference”. A committee of conference met on May 30, 1997 to try to settle the differences between the two chambers' versions of the bill. On June 10, 1997 the House adopted “Conference Committee Report”. On June 10, 1997 the Senate adopted “Conference Committee Report” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 10, 1997 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 18, 1997, making it Chapter 227 of the session laws. It took effect on August 17, 1997.
