The Story
It was introduced on January 9, 1997 and referred to the House Science, Technology and Energy committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 4, 1997. The committee held work sessions on February 6, 1997, February 13, 1997, February 24, 1997, February 27, 1997, March 3, 1997, March 4, 1997 and March 6, 1997. The majority of the committee recommended that the House kill it unanimously, 18–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 18, 1997 the House voted to kill it.
