The Story

It was introduced on January 3, 1996 and referred to the Senate Banks committee. The committee held public hearings on January 9, 1996 and February 20, 1996. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it with changes. On March 6, 1996 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the House on March 13, 1996 and was referred to the House Commerce, Small Business, Consumer Affairs and Economic Development committee. The committee held public hearings on March 28, 1996 and April 9, 1996. The committee held a work session on April 9, 1996. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 15–0. On April 17, 1996 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On April 30, 1996 the Senate voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. An enrolled bill amendment (6036) was adopted on a voice vote on May 29, 1996.
