  • Term: 1995-1996
  • House committee: Municipal and County Government
  • Senate committee: Executive Departments and Administration
  • Subject: Zoning and Planning
  • Chapter law: 181

The Story

It was introduced on January 3, 1996 and referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 18, 1996. The committee voted unanimously, 4–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it. On February 8, 1996 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the House on February 15, 1996 and was referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 5, 1996. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 13–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 17, 1996 the House voted to pass it with changes. On May 9, 1996 the Senate voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. An enrolled bill amendment () was adopted on a voice vote on May 16, 1996. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on May 16, 1996 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (5986) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 3, 1996, making it Chapter 181 of the session laws. It took effect on August 2, 1996.
