The Story
It was introduced on January 5, 1995 and referred to the House Transportation committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 9, 1995. The committee held a work session on February 21, 1995. The majority of the committee recommended that the House send it back to committee by a vote of 14–2. On March 9, 1995 the bill was referred to the Transportation committee. The committee held work sessions on June 7, 1995, October 19, 1995 and October 24, 1995. The majority of the committee recommended that the House study it after the session ends by a vote of 12–5. On January 4, 1996 the House voted to study it after the session ends on a roll call 232–102. The committee held work sessions on June 12, 1996, June 26, 1996, July 17, 1996, July 24, 1996, September 18, 1996, September 25, 1996 and October 8, 1996. The committee reported back on its interim study of the bill: “Recommended for Future Legislation”, by a vote of 10 to 2.
