The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 1995 and referred to the House Education committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 14, 1995. The majority of the committee recommended that the House send it back to committee unanimously, 17–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 9, 1995 the bill was referred to the Education committee. The committee held work sessions on June 14, 1995, June 28, 1995, July 26, 1995, September 6, 1995, September 12, 1995, September 19, 1995, October 4, 1995, October 11, 1995 and October 25, 1995. The majority of the committee recommended that the House kill it unanimously, 17–0. On January 4, 1996 the House voted to kill it on a voice vote.
