The Story

It was introduced on January 3, 1996 and referred to the House Wildlife and Marine Resources committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 23, 1996. The committee held a work session on January 30, 1996. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes by a vote of 13–1. On February 13, 1996 the House adopted “Special Order to 02/15/1996”. On February 15, 1996 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote, then referred it on to the House Finance committee. The committee held a work session on February 23, 1996. The majority of the committee recommended that the House study it after the session ends unanimously, 25–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 19, 1996 the House voted to study it after the session ends. The committee met in executive session on July 31, 1996 to vote on its recommendation. The committee reported back on its interim study of the bill: “Recommended for Future Legislation”, by a vote of 16 to 0.
