  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 1995-1996
  • House committee: Resources, Recreation and Development

  • Subject: Miscellaneous
  • Chapter law: 86

The Story

It was introduced on January 3, 1996 and referred to the House Resources, Recreation and Development committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 17, 1996. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes by a vote of 17–2, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The bill was taken off the consent calendar on March 5, 1996. On March 7, 1996 the House adopted “Suspend Rules on deadline”, on a motion by Rep. A Torr & Trombly. On March 13, 1996 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate and was referred to the Senate Environment committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 2, 1996. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it. On April 4, 1996 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 8, 1996 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 15, 1996, making it Chapter 86 of the session laws. It took effect on January 1, 1997.
