SB 54 (1995)
relative to lead paint.
- Status: Signed into law
- Term: 1995-1996
- House committee: Judiciary and Family Law
- Senate committee: Public Institutions, Health and Human Services
- Subject: Miscellaneous
- Chapter law: 169
The Story
It was introduced on January 5, 1995 and referred to the Senate Public Affairs committee. The Senate withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Public Institutions, Health and Human Services committee instead. The committee held a public hearing on February 8, 1995. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On February 21, 1995 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Judiciary and Family Law committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 5, 1995. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes by a vote of 10–4. On May 2, 1995 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 11, 1995 the Senate voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 23, 1995 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 1, 1995, making it Chapter 169 of the session laws. It took effect on January 1, 1996.
