The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 1995 and referred to the Senate Transportation committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 25, 1995. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On February 7, 1995 the Senate voted to pass it on a division vote 17–3. It crossed to the House on February 9, 1995 and was referred to the House Public Works and Highways committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 29, 1995. The committee held work sessions on April 13, 1995, April 19, 1995 and April 25, 1995. The committee met in executive session on April 26, 1995 to vote on its recommendation. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 17–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On May 2, 1995 the House voted to pass it with changes. On May 23, 1995 the Senate voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 6, 1995 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 12, 1995, making it Chapter 211 of the session laws. It took effect on June 12, 1995.
