The Story

It was introduced on March 9, 1995 and referred to the Senate Finance committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 28, 1995. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On April 6, 1995 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the House on April 11, 1995 and was referred to the House Regulated Revenues committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 20, 1995. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it unanimously, 12–0. On April 25, 1995 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote, then referred it on to the House Finance committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 2, 1995. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it by a vote of 15–4. On May 16, 1995 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 23, 1995 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 1, 1995, making it Chapter 171 of the session laws. It took effect on July 1, 1995.
