The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 1995 and referred to the Senate Education committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 7, 1995. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On March 15, 1995 the Senate voted to pass it with changes, then referred it on to the Senate Finance committee. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On March 28, 1995 the Senate voted to lay it on the table on a voice vote. On April 6, 1995 the Senate adopted “Take from Table” on a voice vote. On April 6, 1995 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the House on April 11, 1995 and was referred to the House Education committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 20, 1995. The majority of the committee recommended that the House kill it by a vote of 12–5. On May 2, 1995 the House voted to kill it on a voice vote.
