The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 1995 and referred to the House Resources, Recreation and Development committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 8, 1995. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 15–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 15, 1995 the House voted to pass it with changes, then referred it on to the House Finance committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 27, 1995. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it by a vote of 23–2, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 4, 1995 the House voted to pass it. It crossed to the Senate on April 6, 1995 and was referred to the Senate Environment committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 18, 1995. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On April 20, 1995 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 9, 1995 the House voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 16, 1995 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 24, 1995, making it Chapter 144 of the session laws. It took effect on May 24, 1995.
