The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 1995 and referred to the House Finance committee. The committee held public hearings on January 30, 1995 and February 7, 1995. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes by a vote of 21–1, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 4, 1995 the House voted to pass it with changes. It crossed to the Senate on April 6, 1995 and was referred to the Senate Ways and Means committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 18, 1995. The committee met in executive session on May 18, 1995 to vote on its recommendation. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On May 23, 1995 the Senate adopted “Recommit” on a voice vote. On May 23, 1995 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 31, 1995 the House voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 6, 1995 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 19, 1995, making it Chapter 250 of the session laws. It took effect on July 1, 1995.
