The Story

The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 14–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 15, 1995 the House voted to pass it with changes, then referred it on to the House Finance committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 27, 1995. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes by a vote of 23–2, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 4, 1995 the House voted to pass it with changes. It crossed to the Senate on April 6, 1995 and was referred to the Senate Environment committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 18, 1995. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On May 2, 1995 the Senate voted to pass it, then referred it on to the Senate Finance committee. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On May 11, 1995 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 6, 1995 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 19, 1995, making it Chapter 247 of the session laws. It took effect on July 1, 1995.
