HB 412 (1995)

relative to licensing standards for sales finance companies and retail sellers.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 1995-1996
  • House committee: Commerce, Small Business, Consumer Affairs and Economic Development
  • Senate committee: Banks
  • Subject: Miscellaneous
  • Chapter law: 159

The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 1995 and referred to the House Commerce, Small Business, Consumer Affairs and Economic Development committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 9, 1995. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it unanimously, 17–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 9, 1995 the House voted to pass it. It crossed to the Senate on March 15, 1995 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The Senate withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Banks committee instead. The committee held a public hearing on April 11, 1995. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On May 11, 1995 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 23, 1995 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 1, 1995, making it Chapter 159 of the session laws. It took effect on July 31, 1995.
