The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 1995 and referred to the House Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services committee. The committee held a work session on February 15, 1995. The majority recommended that the House pass it with changes, and the minority recommended that the House kill it, by a vote of 12–3. On March 15, 1995 the House adopted “Special Order to 03/16/1995” on a voice vote. On March 16, 1995 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 21, 1995 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 24, 1995. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On April 27, 1995 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 9, 1995 the House voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 16, 1995 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 24, 1995, making it Chapter 140 of the session laws. It took effect on May 24, 1995.
