The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 1995 and referred to the House Resources, Recreation and Development committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 14, 1995. The committee held work sessions on February 16, 1995 and March 2, 1995. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes by a vote of 15–1, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 15, 1995 the House voted to pass it with changes. It crossed to the Senate on March 21, 1995 and was referred to the Senate Public Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 19, 1995. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 25, 1995 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 9, 1995 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 16, 1995, making it Chapter 93 of the session laws. It took effect on July 1, 1995.
