relative to absentee voting.
- Status: Signed into law
- Term: 1995-1996
- House committee: Constitutional and Statutory Revision
- Senate committee: Public Affairs
- Subject: Elections
- Chapter law: 48
The Story
It was introduced on January 5, 1995 and referred to the House Constitutional and Statutory Revision committee. The committee held public hearings on February 7, 1995 and February 14, 1995. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 15–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 15, 1995 the House voted to pass it with changes. It crossed to the Senate on March 21, 1995 and was referred to the Senate Public Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 4, 1995. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On April 6, 1995 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On April 13, 1995 the House voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on April 25, 1995 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 3, 1995, making it Chapter 48 of the session laws. It took effect on July 2, 1995.
