The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 1995 and referred to the House Environment and Agriculture committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 25, 1995. The committee held work sessions on January 31, 1995, February 9, 1995, February 16, 1995, February 28, 1995, March 1, 1995 and March 7, 1995. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes by a vote of 19–1. On March 15, 1995 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 21, 1995 and was referred to the Senate Environment committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 11, 1995. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On May 16, 1995 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 23, 1995 the House voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 6, 1995 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 12, 1995, making it Chapter 192 of the session laws. It took effect on August 11, 1995.
