The Story
It was introduced on January 4, 1995 and referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 12, 1995. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes by a vote of 14–1, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 2, 1995 the House voted to pass it with changes. It crossed to the Senate on February 7, 1995 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 16, 1995. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 25, 1995 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 9, 1995 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 16, 1995, making it Chapter 87 of the session laws. It took effect on July 1, 1995.
