HB 165 (1995)

relative to the public use of shorelands.

  • Status: Became law unsigned
  • Term: 1995-1996
  • House committee: Resources, Recreation and Development
  • Senate committee: Environment
  • Subject: Miscellaneous
  • Chapter law: 8

The Story

It was introduced on January 4, 1995 and referred to the House Resources, Recreation and Development committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 12, 1995. The committee held work sessions on January 18, 1995 and January 24, 1995. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes by a vote of 15–2, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 9, 1995 the House voted to pass it with changes. It crossed to the Senate on February 14, 1995 and was referred to the Senate Environment committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 7, 1995. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On March 9, 1995 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote. On March 15, 1995 the Senate failed “Reconsider” on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Russman. The bill was enrolled on March 21, 1995 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. It became law without the governor's signature on April 4, 1995, as Chapter 8. The governor neither signed it nor returned it, and the docket records it as enacted under Part II, Article 44 of the state constitution.
