The Story

It was introduced on January 4, 1995 and referred to the House Transportation committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 25, 1995. The committee held a work session on February 2, 1995. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 14–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 2, 1995 the House voted to pass it with changes. It crossed to the Senate on March 9, 1995 and was referred to the Senate Transportation committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 29, 1995. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On April 13, 1995 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On April 25, 1995 the House voted to reject the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. On May 2, 1995 the Senate adopted “Accede to Request for Committee of Conference” on a voice vote. On May 31, 1995 the Senate adopted “Conference Committee Report” on a voice vote. On June 6, 1995 the House adopted “Conference Committee Report”. The bill was enrolled on June 6, 1995 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 19, 1995, making it Chapter 232 of the session laws. It took effect on June 19, 1995.
