The Story

The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 15–0. On March 31, 1994 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote, then referred it on to the House Ways and Means committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 6, 1994. The committee held a work session on April 7, 1994. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 13–0. On April 28, 1994 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 11, 1994 the Senate voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 26, 1994 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 6, 1994, making it Chapter 296 of the session laws. It took effect on June 6, 1994.
