The Story
It was introduced on January 5, 1994 and referred to the Senate Finance Executive Committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 12, 1994. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On February 3, 1994 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the House on February 15, 1994 and was referred to the House Appropriations committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 22, 1994. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes by a vote of 13–7. On May 11, 1994 the House voted to lay it on the table on a division vote 234–90. On May 11, 1994 the House voted to pass it with changes on a division vote 246–80. On May 12, 1994 the Senate voted to reject the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. On May 17, 1994 the House adopted “Accede to Request for Committee of Conference” on a voice vote. A committee of conference met on May 19, 1994 to try to settle the differences between the two chambers' versions of the bill. On May 26, 1994 the House adopted “Suspend Rules for non-german am”, on a motion by Rep. A Torr & Trombly. On May 26, 1994 the Senate adopted “Accede to Request for Committee of Conference” on a voice vote. On May 26, 1994 the House adopted “Conference Committee Report” on a voice vote. On May 26, 1994 the Senate adopted “Conference Committee Report” on a voice vote. An enrolled bill amendment () was adopted on May 26, 1994. These correct technical errors found after passage.
