The Story
It was introduced on January 5, 1994 and referred to the Senate Ways and Means committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 11, 1994. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On February 10, 1994 the Senate voted to pass it on a division vote, then referred it on to the Senate Fin committee. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On March 22, 1994 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Regulated Revenues committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 31, 1994. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 15–0. On April 21, 1994 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote, then referred it on to the House Ways and Means committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 28, 1994. The majority recommended that the House pass it, and the minority recommended that the House kill it, by a vote of 10–6. On May 11, 1994 the House voted to kill it on a voice vote.
