The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 1994 and referred to the Senate Wildlife and Recreation committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 27, 1994. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On February 16, 1994 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the House on February 17, 1994 and was referred to the House Wildlife and Marine Resources committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 22, 1994. The committee held a work session on March 31, 1994. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it unanimously, 12–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The bill was taken off the consent calendar on April 14, 1994. On April 14, 1994 the House adopted “Recommit” on a voice vote. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 10–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On May 5, 1994 the House voted to pass it with changes. On May 11, 1994 the Senate voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 17, 1994 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 27, 1994, making it Chapter 234 of the session laws. It took effect on January 1, 1995.
