relative to international adoptions.
- Status: Signed into law
- Term: 1993-1994
- House committee: Children, Youth and Juvenile Justice
- Senate committee: Judiciary
- Subject: Children
- Chapter law: 63
The Story
It was introduced on January 5, 1994 and referred to the Senate Public Institutions, Health and Human Services committee. The Senate withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Judiciary committee instead. The committee held a public hearing on February 9, 1994. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On February 15, 1994 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the House on February 17, 1994 and was referred to the House Children, Youth and Juvenile Justice committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 15, 1994. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 14–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 31, 1994 the House voted to pass it with changes. On April 14, 1994 the Senate voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on April 28, 1994 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 6, 1994, making it Chapter 63 of the session laws. It took effect on July 5, 1994.
