It crossed to the Senate on February 10, 1994 and was referred to the Senate Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 27, 1994. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On May 3, 1994 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote. On May 3, 1994 the Senate adopted “Suspend Rules for 3rd reading”, on a motion by Sen. Delahunty. An enrolled bill amendment () was adopted on a voice vote on May 26, 1994. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on May 26, 1994 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (6651) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 8, 1994, making it Chapter 343 of the session laws. It took effect on August 7, 1994.
