  • Term: 1993-1994
  • House committee: Legislative Administration
  • Senate committee: Executive Departments and Administration
  • Subject: Study Committees and Commissions
  • Chapter law: 156

The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 1994 and referred to the House Legislative Administration committee. On February 8, 1994 the House adopted “Suspend Rules for hearing on 02/10/1994”, on a motion by Rep. A Torr. The committee held a public hearing on February 10, 1994. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 11–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 15, 1994 the House voted to pass it with changes. It crossed to the Senate on March 24, 1994 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 19, 1994. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 21, 1994 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 10, 1994 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 23, 1994, making it Chapter 156 of the session laws. It took effect on May 23, 1994.
