The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 1994 and referred to the House Environment and Agriculture committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 13, 1994. The committee held work sessions on February 10, 1994, February 16, 1994, February 23, 1994 and February 28, 1994. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes by a vote of 14–1, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 15, 1994 the House voted to pass it with changes. It crossed to the Senate on March 24, 1994 and was referred to the Senate Environment committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 7, 1994. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On April 14, 1994 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 11, 1994 the House voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 24, 1994 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 2, 1994, making it Chapter 254 of the session laws. It took effect on June 2, 1994.
