The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 1994 and referred to the House Environment and Agriculture committee. The House withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Municipal and County Government committee instead. The committee held a public hearing on February 1, 1994. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 17–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 15, 1994 the House voted to pass it with changes. It crossed to the Senate on March 24, 1994 and was referred to the Senate Economic Development committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 12, 1994. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On May 11, 1994 the Senate voted to lay it on the table on a voice vote. On May 12, 1994 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 17, 1994 the House voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 26, 1994 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 6, 1994, making it Chapter 278 of the session laws. It took effect on August 5, 1994.
