The Story
It was introduced on January 5, 1994 and referred to the House Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 13, 1994. The committee held work sessions on January 26, 1994, February 2, 1994, February 9, 1994 and March 1, 1994. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it unanimously, 14–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 10, 1994 the House voted to pass it. It crossed to the Senate on March 22, 1994 and was referred to the Senate Insurance committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 31, 1994. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On April 14, 1994 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On April 28, 1994 the House voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. An enrolled bill amendment (6389) was adopted on a voice vote on May 11, 1994. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on May 26, 1994 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (6389) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 6, 1994, making it Chapter 267 of the session laws. It took effect on August 5, 1994.
