The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 1994 and referred to the House Transportation committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 26, 1994. The committee held a work session on February 2, 1994. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 14–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 15, 1994 the House voted to pass it with changes. It crossed to the Senate on March 10, 1994 and was referred to the Senate Transportation committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 30, 1994. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On April 14, 1994 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a division vote, then referred it on to the Senate Fin committee. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On May 12, 1994 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 17, 1994 the House voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 24, 1994 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 2, 1994, making it Chapter 252 of the session laws. It took effect on July 1, 1994.
