The Story
It was introduced on January 5, 1994 and referred to the House Regulated Revenues committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 25, 1994. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it unanimously, 16–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 3, 1994 the House voted to pass it. It crossed to the Senate on February 10, 1994 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The Senate withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Ways and Means committee instead. The committee held a public hearing on March 8, 1994. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On March 24, 1994 the Senate voted to lay it on the table on a voice vote. On May 10, 1994 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 17, 1994 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 27, 1994, making it Chapter 221 of the session laws. It took effect on July 26, 1994.
