The Story
It was introduced on January 5, 1994 and referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The House withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Executive Departments and Administration committee instead. The committee held a public hearing on February 2, 1994. The committee held a work session on February 10, 1994. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 13–0. On March 17, 1994 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 24, 1994 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 7, 1994. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 21, 1994 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on April 28, 1994 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 11, 1994, making it Chapter 107 of the session laws. It took effect on May 11, 1994.
