The Story

It was introduced on January 7, 1993 and referred to the Senate Banks committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 3, 1993. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On March 4, 1993 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the House on March 17, 1993 and was referred to the House Commerce, Small Business and Consumer Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 25, 1993. The committee held work sessions on March 31, 1993 and April 6, 1993. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 11–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 13, 1993 the House voted to pass it with changes. On April 15, 1993 the Senate voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on April 29, 1993 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 4, 1993, making it Chapter 110 of the session laws. It took effect on January 1, 1994.
